You Are What You Eat

You are what you eat rings true for so many people, especially those individuals who are just now starting a diet. Most people diet plans are like yoyos; they are on one day and off for five days. What makes so many diets successful is not the food they eat that is only part of it, but the self control of the dieter. Any diet will work if the dieter has the self discipline or will power to resist certain kinds of food. The biggest problem many dieters have is food. Let’s face it everyone loves to eat. Eating is a necessity for human growth and development. So the problem does not lie with eating, but rather with what one does eat.

If a person eats healthy his or her body will show it in the upcoming years ahead. Eating good becomes part of a ritual for some many people who want to improve their health or prolong their life. For instance, what happens to a person who has been dieting for 3 months and has lost quite a bit of weight, sees someone eating that very food in which they took 3 months to conquer? Well, if that individual has no will power he or she will be in the very same boat they were in 3 months ago.

Food becomes a weakness for so many people. Food is not the problem, but the kinds of food that people eat are a problem. There was a commercial that came on all the time that showed a child eating cereal that the other kids didn’t want. They passed it along and said “Let’s give it to Mikey he eats anything”. That phrase is true everyone has some Mikey in them. There are some foods that are really unhealthy but in all reality no one cares they just want to eat.

Obesity is the cause of so many health problems and diseases. For instance, overweight comes from overeating, and not eating the proper foods. Eating foods like ice cream, pizza, fries, and hamburgers everyday is very unhealthy. These foods will begin to show in the waistline when it has increased about six inches, in the thighs when those tight jeans are now hanging up in the closet or in the arms when that pretty lace blouse can no longer fit over the flab that hangs from under the arms. In all reality dieting does work, but individuals must work for the perfect diet.

The body will take care of each person that takes care of it. If a person eats healthy their body will reward them with good health. A person can expect normal blood pressure, low cholesterol, and no weight problems. The human body is designed to heal itself in some instances, fight off germs and eliminate fat. These things can be accomplished, but it takes the help of the individual. On the other hand if a person eats unhealthy their body will still reward them, but in a negative way.

They are rewarded with bad skin, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, bad teeth and possible heart problems. People who have a poor diet usually have one or more health problems. The thing that many people may not know is that they can change the outcome of some illnesses and disease by eating healthier. This means putting more good foods into a diet than bad foods. Good foods include vegetables, poultry, fish, whole grains, fiber, calcium, and fruits. There are some foods that should be avoided altogether if possible, or consumed in moderation. These foods include sugars and sugary foods, and empty calories such as can and bottle sodas.

The need to eat healthy is now. Some diseases like diabetes can be control with proper eating. Obesity is the cause of one type of diabetes. It is also the cause of high cholesterol in some cases. Eating junk foods provides the body with no nutrients or substance, and only causes skin problems and health issues. Avoiding foods that looks good and tastes good, but is actually no good is a major problem for many people. That is why self control has be at the top of every dieter list for successful dieting, and weight loss.
